Counselling

Specialities

At the heart of my counselling practice is a deep respect for your lived experience, your resilience, and your hopes for transformation and/or healing. I offer personalised, trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating complex life experiences, emotional pain, and significant transitions including parenthood.

WHAT WE MIGHT EXPLORE TOGETHER

  • Trauma (including childhood abuse and neglect)

  • Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and complex trauma

  • Transition to motherhood and maternal wellbeing

  • Birth Trauma

  • Pregnancy loss and termination

  • Stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Self-Care and Self-Worth

  • Identity

  • Boundaries and healthy relationships

What To Expect

WHAT TO EXPECT

My approach to counselling is collaborative and grounded in compassion. I integrate a range of therapies, including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic and body-based practices, and the neurobiology of trauma to support you to see and understand yourself, your lived experiences, and your future in new and compassionate ways.

Our first session will gently explore what brings you here, what you’re hoping to shift or understand more deeply, and how I can support you in that process. We’ll also talk about confidentiality, your rights as a client, and the boundaries of my professional role. While I welcome the stories of pain or challenge, I’m equally interested in what sustains you - your strengths, values, interests, and the things that bring meaning and joy.

Together, we’ll develop a plan that feels relevant, safe, and responsive to your needs.

As an Accredited Social Worker, my practice aligns with the AASW Code of Ethics and the NSW Victims Services Practice Standards. You're welcome to ask any questions or request copies of these documents at any time.

FEES

As of 1 July 2024, my service fee is $145.00 per 60-minute session.

NDIS:
Individuals with an active NDIS plan, who are able to access a counselling service as part of this, can request invoices to be sent to a third party for payment. Fees for NDIS services are $193.90 per hour, as per NDIS item number 15_621_0128_1_3 (Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training - Social Worker).

Victims Services:
I also provide a free service to victims of crime, through the Victims Services Approved Counselling service. If you have been a victim of a violent crime (including sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence) please contact me to discuss accessing counselling sessions through the Victims Services scheme. You can also read more about the service here.

Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling:
If you are currently pregnant, or have been pregnant in the past 12 months, you can access up to three sessions of subsidised counselling with a referral from a GP. This is seperate to a Mental Health Care Plan. Medicare will provide a rebate of $65.75 per session, which can be processed at the time of your appointment. The remaining out-of-pocket cost will be $79.25 per session. You can find out more about Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling here

Third-Party:
If you wish to engage in counselling through a third party, eg. an EAP-funded arrangement, Workers' Compensation, please contact me to discuss suitability. I can send invoices to an organisation for payment, or provide a tax receipt for you to seek your own reimbursement. Fees for non-NDIS Third Party services are $155.00 per hour.

All payments can be made at time of session, either by cash or debit/credit card. If you require an invoice to pay via direct debit/bank transfer, please advise me of this prior to your session.

At present, I am not providing a bulk billing, or Medicare rebate (Mental Health Care Plan) service, except for Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling sessions.
